Spasticity and neuro-orthopedics: Physiopathology and assessment

Neuro-orthopedic complications such as neurogenic heterotopic ossifications (HO) appear early after brain injury. Identifying factors that promote the formation of (HO) allows the clinician to establish preventive treatment of these complications and to reduce their impact on the functional prognosis and patient comfort.
New assessment techniques of spastic muscle contracture can be pertinent in evaluating treatment such as injections of botulinum toxin.
