The debate with the audience will be organized around the effects of Music on the brain, its links with cognition and motor skills. We will discuss the beneficial effects of Music on humans applied to rehabilitation after neurological diseases (for example, memory in Alzheimer's disease or walking in Parkinson's disease), or in the context of developmental disorders (for example in the dyslexic child).
The session will be divided in three main topics :
1) Music helping memory (15 minutes)
2) Music helping langage disorders (15 minutes)
3) Music helping in walking and movement disorders (15 minutes)
Each theme will be introduced by a short musical sample (5-8 min) by Rolling String Quartet, presented by Pr. Emmanuel Bigand, in relation to the topic discussed. A list of questions will be projected on a large screen in each section to accompany the public's questions. Debates will be coordinated and led by Pr. Simone DALLA BELLA and Pr. Isabelle Laffont.
