GENO round table: Surgery for neuro-orthopedic disorders in brain injury: what time scale?
Chairs: Christian FONTAINE, Flavia COROIAN, Bertrand COULET, Philippe DENORMANDIE
Different surgical techniques may be used in the treatment of neuro-orthopedic disorders of brain injury. The pre-treatment assessment, carried out by a multidisciplinary team, is an essential step that allows to choose the therapeutic indication, to set the treatment goal and to choose the type of surgery (neuro-orthopedic or intrathecal baclofen) and neuro-orthopedic surgery. We will discuss important issues on the treatment of neuro-orthopedic complications in brain injury: the stage of evolution at which we can offer surgery, pre-therapeutic evaluation strategy, the positioning of the different techniques and their timing, type of postoperative immobilization and construction of a comprehensive strategy.
