PMR and networks
Chairperson : Pr. André THEVENON
Moderators : Dr. Philippe DALINVAL, Dr. Marc LE FORT
Reference or Competence Centers for rare diseases and Healthcare Networks were created and financially supported with the objective of an improvement of access to healthcare in a comprehensive way, by an optimization of coordination and, at the same time, of the knowledge of concerned pathologies. Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) may not have been a leader in these centers’ setting up but seams to be an essential player to make them work and last. The activity of these officialized structures is concerned by various kinds of transmural healthcare supply, also at patients’ home, and crosses more informal partners like family carers. This session will present the circumstances of creation and development of the Reference Centers for rare diseases and Healthcare Networks and, by practical illustrations, will try to clarify their role in the current healthcare system in France and the place of PRM among these frameworks.
