Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, I am very pleased to welcome you to the Xth Conference on Pseudomonas in the "Palais des Congrès" of Marseille (France) on August 27-31, 2005.
Pseudomonas are ubiquitous bacteria, able to cope with a wide variety of life styles. The versatility of Pseudomonas species and the multiplicity of molecular mechanisms involved in adaptation and colonisation of various niches can be used as model for many other organisms. The specific themes of this conference should cover all the facets of the Pseudomonas research, including genomics, host-bacteria and environment-bacteria interactions, physiology, biofilm, virulence or global mechanism of gene regulation. The reports based on the most novel approaches in Molecular Microbiology will be at the edge between fundamental, applied and medical research.
The Pseudomonas 2005 conference has received the co-sponsorship from the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). With their help, and the help of our other sponsors, we hope to guide you through an exciting exploration of the current Pseudomonas research.
These very successful Pseudomonas conferences, whose first was held in 1986 in Geneva, bring together over 300 life scientists from all over the world. Marseille is a mix of cultures and civilizations and I do hope that during your stay you will find time to explore and appreciate our city.
