Dear friends,

It is my honour and great pleasure to invite you to attend the first European Congress of the EAB (European Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology). The EAB is a very young association, which was founded as a complement for the established sister organisations WAB (World Association of Bronchology) and AAB (American Association of Bronchology). It is not by chance that the venue for this course is the beautiful city of Marseille, where Hervé Dutau, the worthy successor of Jean-Fançois Dumon, will be hosting the event. Judging from the congress programme there will be exciting topics presented, the lot as an appealing mix of lectures and hands-on training. The faculty reads like a "who's who" in the world of Interventional Pulmonology. So please join us in Marseille in March 2011 to celebrate our young association.

Dear colleagues, Dear friends,

I am delighted to invite you and welcome you in Marseille for the first European Congress for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. A European congress was necessary for many reasons: to celebrate the European tribute to the history of IP, to create a European event focused on IP under the auspices of the EABIP, and to gather European colleagues to facilitate in-depth discussions and collaborations in the field of IP with the intent to standardize teaching, training and practice in Europe. The French and Italian bronchoscopy groups are already deeply commited to these goals. The legacy we inherited from our esteemed mentors, Dr. Jean-François Dumon and Pr. Christian Boutin, is a precious gift that Pr. Philippe Astoul and I feel is our duty to share with all of our colleagues. This congress gives us a unique opportunity to achieve it.
